A. Over 7,800
members in over 60 countries. Our membership has increased by
40% over the last five years.

FAQs For Applicants
Q. Why should I
join IIRSM?
A. IIRSM
membership has many benefits for health and safety
practitioners, full details of benefits are on the
Membership
Benefits page.
Q. If I
don’t have the qualifications listed in the literature can I
still apply?
A. Yes, if you feel you have relevant qualifications and
experience you may still apply. Your application will be
assessed by the Membership Committee and you will be informed of
which level of membership is most appropriate.
Q. What qualifications does the IIRSM recognise?
A. The IIRSM recognises training courses
from a wide range of providers including the British Safety
Council, NEBOSH and FE and HE institutions. Further

page.
Q.
Can I join as a
Fellow?
A.
Not initially, Fellowship can only be obtained by those who have been
a full
paid up member (MIIRSM) for at least five years and who have their
petition accepted by the Board of Governors.
Q. Why can't I
submit my application online?
A. We require
hard copies of supporting documentation i.e. certificates to be
attached.
Q. How long
will it take to process my application?
A. This usually takes four to six weeks but may take longer depending on the complexity of the application.
Q. I am already
a member of another health and safety professional body, so why
should I join IIRSM?
A. Many of our
members have membership of more than one organisation, this demonstrates that they
value the benefits that both organisations provide.

does membership cost?
A. Our current

Q. What
payment methods can I use when paying for or renewing my
membership? A. You can pay your membership fees by cheque,
debit or credit card, bankers draft,
direct debit
(renewal payments only) and bank transfer. For

FAQs For Existing Members
Q.
I am already a
member and want to upgrade what do I have to do and how much do
I have to pay ?
A. To upgrade
your membership you will need to fill out an application form
and attach copies of any qualifications taken since your
original application. There is a processing fee of £25
which will need to accompany the application. This will be
refunded if your application is unsuccessful. See the
upgrades section for more
information.
Q.
If my
membership has lapsed, can I reinstate it?
A.
If your membership has lapsed it is possible to reinstate it. If
it has been over six months since you have lapsed you will need
to rejoin.

Q. Do I have
to pay the registration fee when renewing my membership?
A. No, the registration fee is only payable with a new
membership.
