IIRSM to attend Waveney Safety & Environment Group Conference
 

A one day Charity Health and Safety Conference on the 18 October 2006, at the Holiday Inn, Norwich City Airport from 9.00am to 5.00pm.

The Waveney Safety & Environment Group is a part of the Safety Groups UK.

The conference covers a wide spectrum of topics encompassing Health and Safety and of of the consultative documents.

The HSE are promoting 'A strategy for Workplace Health and Safety in Great Britain to 2010 and Beyond'.

The Chairman of the HSC, Bill Callaghan said in 2004

"This strategy is designed to promote our vision, which is to see health and safety as a cornerstone of a civilised society and, with that, to achieve a record of workplace health and safety that leads the world.  This strategy builds on success and develops and takes forward the Revitalising Health and Safety Strategy Statement of June 2000.  This is also a strategy about change.  It is about doing things differently, getting others involved or even saying no in some cases."

"Britain's record is already commendable, with fatal accidents reduced by over two thirds since the introduction of the landmark Health and Safety at Work Act in 1974, but more needs to be done.  40 million working days were lost to occupational injury and ill health in 2001/02: 33 million days were attributed to ill health.  Implementing the strategy should further energise Britain's approach to improving workplace health and safety for the future."
